Michael
Balint has
served on the Board of Directors since he moved to Woonsocket in the
spring of 2000. Mike was recently appointed as chairman of the
Board of Directors. He founded Miba Design (pronounced “meebah”) in 1998
and relocated the business to Woonsocket when he and his fiancée,
Britte Jessen, purchased the historic Harris Warehouse on 61-65 Railroad
Street. His office is temporarily located in Monument Square until the
renovations on the warehouse are complete; Miba Design specializes in
corporate identity and print design for small- to mid-size businesses. |
Marge
Jacob has
been involved with Main Street 2000 Development Corporation since it was
created; she is currently the Vice Chairman of Main Street 2000.
Jacob was born and raised in Woonsocket.
She has been a licensed Real Estate Broker since 1973 and is
licensed in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
She is currently working for Dewolf Realty and handles
residential, land and commercial real estate |

Gordon
A. Carpenter has
been involved with Main Street 2000 Development Corporation since it’s
beginning; he is currently serving as secretary. Carpenter established his private law practice in June 1995
to provide attentive, experienced legal services to private businesses
and their owners. He is a
third generation born, raised and residing northern Rhode Island
attorney. Gordon's practice includes attending to the legal needs of
corporations and other business organizations of varying size including
initial formations of corporations, limited liability companies and
other business entities, extensive practice in mergers, acquisitions and
sales of businesses and considerable experience in commercial financing,
particularly those involving secured transactions. Gordon is a member of
the Rhode Island and Massachusetts Bars and the American Bar Association |
Ann
Auclair was
appointed to the Woonsocket Main Street–Riverfront Initiative board in
January of 2002. Auclair is
a Financial Advisor with Auclair & Auclair, LLP, a financial,
investment and estate planning firm located in North Smithfield.
Auclair specializes in the area of wealth management for women,
as well as education funding. Auclair
has also served on various boards and committees in the Northern Rhode
Island area and looks forward to working with Woonsocket Main
Street–Riverfront Initiative on all up coming projects |
Robert
Billington has worked with Main Street 2000 Development Corporation
for over 15 years and is a January 2002 appointee to the Woonsocket Main
Street–Riverfront Initiative Board of Directors. Billington has
been President of the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council since 1986.
Billington’s job is to develop tourism within the Blackstone River
Valley Area. “Main Street has come so far over the last 15
years, the entire look is so vibrant and offers so much”, says
Billington. Billington is looking forward to working with the
organization on all future projects. |
Anne
D. Conway was appointed to the Woonsocket Main Street–Riverfront
Initiative Board in January 2002. Conway has been with the Museum
of work and culture since it’s opening in October of 1997.
Conway is responsible for the creation and management of the Museum
Store. In April of 1999 she assumed the duties of Co-Site Manager
and is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Museum as well as
special events. She is a native of Quebec City and attended
classes at Laval University. Conway also has a B.A. in French
Literature from Rhode Island College. |

President Leo T. Fontaine President of Woonsocket City Council
serves as an Ex-officio member of Woonsocket Main Street–Riverfront
Initiative by virtue of his position. |
Joseph
Garlick was
appointed to the Woonsocket Main Street–Riverfront Initiative Board in
January 2002. Garlick is
currently the Executive Director of the Woonsocket Neighborhood
Development Corporation a private, non-profit builder of affordable
housing. |
Denise
M. Gervais has served as the Northern Rhode Island Chamber of
Commerce (NRICC) representative since January 1998. The NRICC is
one of the founding members of Main Street 2000 Development Corporation.
A representative of the NRICC has served on the Board of Directors since
Main Street 2000 Development Corporation was created. Gervais has
been employed by the NRICC since September 1991, and currently serves as
Senior Vice President. Gervais handles and is responsible for all
internal operations, finance, and in addition, acts as fiscal agent for
other organizations. |
Norbert
Grochowski was
appointed at its inception by former Mayor Baldelli to represent the
Woonsocket Historic District Commission.
Born and raised in Woonsocket, Grochowski is a retired
Architectural designer and semi retired contractor.
Grochowski is a former member of the Woonsocket Jaycees and the
Kiwanis Club of Woonsocket. |
| Thomas
Hunt was
appointed to the Woonsocket Main Street–Riverfront Initiative Board in
January 2002. He is also on
the advisory board for the development of the Heritage Corridor Bike
Path. Hunt is the creative
director for the Worcester Telegram and Gazette located in Worcester,
MA. Hunt is a member of
Democratic State Committee and the Society of News Design.
He also served on the Cold Spring Park redevelopment board and
acted as chairperson for the development of the Children’s Playground
at Cold Spring Park. He is
also active in coaching in Fair North and East Woonsocket Little League
and Woonsocket YMCA basketball. |

Albert
P. Valliere, Jr. has
been involved with Main Street 2000 Development Corporation since it’s
beginning. Valliere served
as Chairman of the Board of directors for two years.
Valliere is president of Nation Wide Construction Corporation and
a partner in Valliere, Sawyer Real Estate.
Valliere has always been a proponent of the historic
revitalization of buildings to maintain a sense of connection to our
heritage. Valliere believes
in and supports the concept of using our natural resource (the
Blackstone River) and our unique historic structures as the basis for
economic development and prosperity |
Gerald
P. Ventre was
appointed to the Woonsocket Main Street–Riverfront Initiative board in
January of 2002. Ventre is the Executive Director/CEO of The Arc of
Northern Rhode Island; a non-profit human service agency that provides
support and services for people with developmental disabilities who live
throughout the Blackstone Valley. Ventre
has served in his present capacity at the Arc of NRI for the past 30
years. |

Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor, Central
Massachusetts and Northern Rhode Island. Welch sits on the board as an
